As many of you may already seen on the news, the 18 meter real size scale GUNDAM has been on display at "Shiokaze Park" in Odaiba from July 11th. Although I couldn't make it to the opening ceremony, I would like to report about the second day, July 12th, which I went.

The real-size GUNDAM is part of the "GREEN TOKYO GUNDAM Project -GUNDAM Stands on the Green Earth-" event and will be on display from July 11th to August 31st (Summer vacation period). The concept of this event are as follows:

"GUNDAM will represent as the symbol of "The city of Tokyo flowing with greenery" that will send out a strong message to the future of Tokyo and the children that will be the future generations. GUNDAM will be supporting the building of a green flowing city by donating some parts from these events. (from GREEN TOKYO GUNDAM Project Official WebSite)

Really couldn't get what they were talking about, honestly, but what I know is that anyone can see GUNDAM for free and actually get as close as touching its feet. In other words, you can feel the world of GUNDAM by just going to Odaiba. For dads having to take their kids somewhere, it's a great event that is easy to the wallet and and enjoyable for kids and yourself. Also you can contribute to the environment by buying goods at the event area. A great event that matches the trend of today.

Enough with the smooth talking, this might be the only chance to see a full scale GUNDAM. If you are a GUNDAM fan, or even if you're not one, this is something you have got to see. Seeing the GUNDAM stand in Odaiba makes me relive the moments of Amuro first boarding GUNDAM on Side 7 and the match up against Ramba=Ral that made me feel a bit melancholic thinking mobile suits of this size were going around fighting each other.

Day 2 of the showing were filled with many people ranging from the GUNDAM generations and the family with children to the not so GUNDAM related seniors and young couples. There was no waiting time just to see GUNDAM, but the "Touch & Walk" that participants can walk up to its feet and actually touch it had a 20 minute waiting line for their turns to come. The limited model sold exclusively at this event, "HG RX-78-2 GUNDAM  Ver.G30th GREEN TOKYO GUNDAM PROJECT" had a 10 minute waiting line. So for those thinking of buying  one, you might want to get there early.

The GUNDAM will make a action movement every 30 minutes. The "Long Version" that takes place at the top of the hour and the "Short Version" that takes place half past the hour. The actions are the flashing lights from certain areas and the frozen carbon dioxide smoke that mocks the exhaust steam.  For those who want to see it can check it out on YouTube.
