“Fist of the North Star” 25th Anniversary Celebration Report!

One of the anime masterpiece now a popular pachinko and pachisuro game, “Fist of the North Star”(HOKUTO-NO-KEN) celebrated its 25th anniversary with a “wedding ceremony”at Nihon Seinen-Kan on Saturday,  September 3rd.


As the title points out, this event was a wedding event held for Kenshiro, the hero of the story and his love, Yuria. This was not another wedding ceremony but the bonding of eachothers' souls. 777 selected from a drawing came out to to see the solemn ceremony.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary since its first publication.“Fist of the North Star” set in a post apocolyptic world after the nucler war, has grasped fan's hearts with its soul shaking love story behind a violent backdrop. The successor of the “Divine Fist of the North Star” with the history dating back for 1800 years, Kenshiro finds a new light through love with his love, Yuria.  

Kenshiro willingly becomes the “Man of Death” to puesue justice.

The only place for the soul of a man who dedicated his life to fight was the smile of Yuria.

A love story never told before. Now the last piece is filled.

September 13th, the two souls will be as one.

 The ceremony was produced by Akemi Ariga, a charasmatic wedding planner of “Take and Give Needs Co.”. The whole event was produced by Atsuhiro Sugio, producer of many hit TV dramas ( “Long Vacation” “Narita Divorce” “Marriage Meeting Wedding” “ Shot-gun Wedding”) and now a representative of a wedding company “Storia” a ceremony never seen anywhere was held.

Athletic comedy duo “Penalty“ and Akiko Yagi, an ex-Fuji television announcer MCed the event. Penalty thought it was a joke when they were told about this event. “We were both big fans of the comic and couldn't wait for the next issue. We are “Generation-Fist of the North Star”. Yagi read from the first episode again for the event. “ I've reacknowledged how earnest the fans are when they were jealous to hear that I was going to MC the ceremony.”

The writer Tetsuo Hara thanked the fans by making it possible. “Setting in an post-acopolyptic world, I never thought this can happen.”
　
“Buronson“, the creator of the story rejoiced by looking back. “I never dreamed this years ago. I was writing every week thinking it would be the last episode.”
Nobuhiko Horie, the conceptor of the event, who is also the founder ( representative director and president of NorthStars Pictures Co. /CoreComics Co. also executive director of “Shin Kyuseisyu Densetsu” series) said “Fans are all “the children of the North Star”. I wanted all of the children see Kenshiro and Yuria's wedding.

Live entertainment was provided by anison-charisma “Yuki Kajiura”, “Jealkb”, a newtype of visually oriented bands and a new artist “ mina*muse”. “MuscleMusical” was there to put on a show as well. And a fighting poem read by Sandaime Uotake Hamada Shigeo, many  messages from celebreties only seemed fitting for a great quarter century anniversary.

The ceremony ended in style by singing of the opening theme from the TV series.“Fist of the North Star” by all participants, audiences and guests including Monsieur Yoshizaki, a member of the group Crystal King who sang the original version.

One of the  missing piece that kept fans on their toes is finally filled. The story will be fully complete with the movie “Zero: The Ledgend of Kenshiro” that will come out coming October.
