about 70 people （officialrelease）rallied for the “Counterdemonstration against Increase in Power Rates” in Akihabara between 7 and 8 pm on October 31st .
This was a rally against the boosting of the electrical retes scheduled for next January. It also asks the government and the power companies to move on to a cleaner natural enegy that doesn't depemd on fossil fuel.
According to the organizers, this increase on power rates can not be seen as “We won't buy or use it when the bills go up” kind of problem. We have decided to protest because this is the deepet of the the price raising problems. They chose Akihabara as the icon of our “electrified lifestyle” to say no to price raising and the Nuclear power plant.
About 70 people were on hand（official release）for the rally and it was held with a “Sound Demonstration” platform witch was used in “6・30Akihabara Release Demonstration” in 2007.
Of course being Akihabara, there were cosplayers ( Lum of “Urusei Yatsura” particially relating to electricity?), and sign that read “Can't even play my porn games at those rates!” The protesters gathered at Akihabara Park near Yodobashi CameraAkihabara Ekimae at 7pm and passed Showa Dori, Kanda Myojin Dori, ShoheiBashi Dori and ManseiBashi Crossing back to the park. They made their claim circling the main parts of Akihabara for an hour. At the site of the crossing of the killing incident occurred, they pointed out that raise of basic infrastructure costs will widen the gaps between the rich and the poor, bringing up the “Working Poor” problems.
Rei Shiba, one of the organizers of this demonstration has told to us
・This being the 2nd time, we have made our point to more people by having a DJ and a leading vehiclewith a sound system.
・We would like people to think from the side of electricity.That is why it was important for us to have it here at “Denki -Gai(Electric Town”)
・（The killing incident）the killer will not be justified, but there is another problem on the people who pushed him to do so via the internet. Widening incomegaps is one factor of people leaning to violence and this power arte increase is a major problem that can lead to adverse effect.
・Power companies and the government must do more than “Conserve Energy”. They must stop high costing nuclear power plants and switch to operating policies centering natural energy.
It is decided to hold the 3rd demonstration in “Late November”
