200 "Un-Pop" Gather for the 1st Off-line Meeting !The 1st large off-line meeting for the social network service site "Hi-Mote SNS" ( People not so popular with the opposite gender) was held at LOFT PLUS ONE in Shinjuku on December 6th.



"Hi-Mote SNS" is a free web service that started November 25th 2008 for the "Hi-Mote" ( People not so popular with the opposite gender, or people wanting someone as their boy/girl friend with no luck) to gather and share their experiences. The rules include, "Must quit after you've found someone" and "the diary must be about the dreadful stories as a Hi-Mote". There are also "Hi-Mote Girls" and "PR Girls" that has a high responce average as a "1st phase My Mote"(start off as a friend) to enjoy the chat. These girls have been checked that they are not a male pretending to be female on the net by the website manager.

According to Hiroyuki Egami, the manager of the website, " I hope they can use this site to forget the lonliness and be of help to make friends and meet people. As a "Hi-Mote" myself,  I hope to make something from here as well." He said that it took 3 hours to build this site.

The "1st Hi-Mote Grand Conference" was an event celebrating its 8000 member register. Over 200 people participated and crowded the standing room. There were only 20 girls compared to 180 boys. Each girls were praised as "Godess" by the boys, bringing a unique atmosphere. There were special rules for all Hi-Mote participants to enjoy such as-

・Un-Conversationalist Zone
 Area for people who are not so confortable talking. Don't talk to me!
・Brown Bags Allowed
 Snacks, sweets, PCs and games like "Monster Hunter" was free to bring in. Power provided.
・Complete Anonymity
 Paper bags were given at the entrance. Wear them for incognito.

Many guests were on hands, such as "Geru" , a "Hi-Mote" comic entertained the crowd with his "Hi-Mote" performance.

Columnist Ai Aizawa held a special lecture on how to be a "Mote" and be more attractive.  Also, Getters Iida, a fortune teller read participants' love predictions and had a lady come up on stage, picked out some men that seemed compatible, and finally found a perfect match.
 
According to Hiroyuki Egami, the organizer, told us that over 90% of the participants said that they were "Extremely Satisfied" with the event via a questionnaire.
