The world's biggest otaku festival Comic Market75 opened at Tokyo Ariake's Tokyo BigSite December 28th.
Comiket, otherwise known as the Comic Market or CM, is the world's largest comic convention that are held twicea year in August ("Natsu-comi") and December ("Fuyu-comi"). Tokyo BigSite is one of the biggest convention facility in Japan. Comiket chartered the whole building for 3 days for this Otaku-festival. Around 500,000 people has participated this few year easily surpassing 200,000 of the Tokyo Game Show.

150,000 people, 10,000 more from last year, and 12,000 amateur groups (ranging from anime, games, tokusatsu, railroad, music, entertainment, military and more ) joined for the opening day. Long lines were formed in front of popular groups before the opening. 140 otaku related companies held their booth at the West Hall area. Fans lining up for limited goods and cos-playing booth girls were there all day.
Day 2, the 29th will have groups for Shonen manga like "REBORN!", "One Piece" and "Gin Tama", and groups for female fans and BL(boys love) fans. Male based original and adult products will appear on the 30th, the last day. 360,000 groups and 500,000 participants are expected in this 3-day span.
