"The Awards goes to..." The winners of the Third Seiyu Awards! The Seiyu Awards were held on March 27th at Akihabara UDX Theater.

The Seiyu Awards are award ceremonies for the recognition of voice acting talent for outstanding performance in anime and other media in Japan. It has started in 2007 and this was the 3rd year.This is the first and biggest of the industry, with sounds and anime companies cooperating for the awards, it has drawn attentions from both in and out of the otaku world.

The nominees were first voted from the general audience (via ballots ay hobby shops, Website and Keitai sites) between October 1st,2008 to January 1st,2009. Then the committee narrowed them down for the 8 categories for group 1 and the selections for 5 categories of the special awards of group 2."International Fan Award" was added from this year receiving votes through the Web from fan all over the world.

* the votes were for any of the following genres that has been released from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008:1. A newly released TV anime 2. A released DVD or video 3. A new work that was aired for the first time or was streamed on the internet 4. A game. The special awards were approved by the committee for their achievement during the years.

The leading actor went to Hiroshi Kamiya, who played Takashi Natsume in "Natsume Yujincho" and Nozomu Itoshiki in "Zoku Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei", while Rie Kugimiya was crowned as the leading actress as her roles as Taiga Aisaka from "Toradora!" and Miharu Rokujo in "Nabari no Ou", both moving up a notch from their best supporting awards last year. Kamiya also was acknowledged in the "Personality" award giving him the 2nd honor of the day.The "International Fan Award" went to Jun Fukuyama who was the winner of the leading actor award 2years ago.

The 19 year old Megumi Nakajima stole the show winning the Best Musical Performance just debuting as Lanka Lee in "Macross Frontier" in 2008. Having her debut single "Seikan Hikou" by the character name ranking in the Oricon chart as high as the number 5 spot, she may be on her way to stardom just like her alter ego. She is the fastest actor to receive an award since debut.

The list of the winners are as follows, and there will be a special talk show of these winning actors at the "Tokyo Anime Anime Fair 2009" on March 21st.

[Best Actors in supporting roles] Kazuhiko Inoue as: Nyanko Sensei "Natsume Yujincho" , You Miyagi "Junjou Romantica" etc. Tomokazu Sugita as: Raven "Hakushaku to Yosei", Leon Mishima "Macross Frontier" etc.	[Best Actresses in supporting roles] Aya Endo as: Sheryl Nome "Macross Frontier", Matsu "Sekirei" etc. Miyuki Sawashiro as: Asako Shibasaki Tsugumi Aoba "Toshokan Senso" etc.
[Best Rookie actors] (actors within 5 years since debut) Nobuhiko Okamoto as: Shin Kanzato "PERSONA -trinity soul-", Accelerator "To Aru Majutsu no Index" etc. Yuki Kaji as: Akina Hiizumu "Yozakura Quartet", Finnian "Kuroshitsuji"etc.	[Best Rookie actresses] (actresses within 5 years since debut) Kana Asumi as: Natsumi Hirakawa "Hidamari Sketch 365", Yuno "Kyo no Go no Ni" etc. Haruka Tomatsu as: Music Rayn Shiho "Zettai Karen Children", Nagi "Crazy Shrine Maidens"etc.
