The Tokyo International Anime Fair 2009 (TAF2009) opened at Tokyo BigSite in Ariake, Tokyo March 18th.
The Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) is one of the largest anime trade fairs in the world, chaired by the governor of Tokyo, Shintaro Ishihara. With all anime related companies gathering, it is considered to be "the trade show of Anime". This 8th annual event with 255 publishers and 759 distributors taking part, it seeks to draw 130,000 visitors in 4 days. (126,622 in 2008)
The 18th and 19th will be "Business Day" for companies and distributers, and "Public Day" on the 20th and 21st for general admission where awards and presentations, symposiums, press releases, and events by seiyus and artists will be held. Having the event at this time of the year,there will be many promotions of newly starting animes.
The hours are from 10:00-18:00. Admission are 1,000yen for adults, 500yen for ages 13-18. (* tax included. free admission for children under 12, people over 65 and physically challenged and their helpers)
