Ryunosuke Kamiki,Riisa Naka at The new anime film "SUMMER WARS" production presentation!

Production presentation of "SUMMER WARS" was held at "Tokyo International Anime Fair 2009"


"SUMMER WARS" is the latest anime film by the director of "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", Mamoru Hosoda. This "Large Family Action Film" focuses on family and the bonding among them. The staff from "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" got together again like "Neon Genesis EVANGELION"'s Yoshiyuki Sadamoto doing character design. Production is by MADHOUSE.

The story is a sci-fi that starts at Nagano Prefecture where a math-whiz high school boy Kenji Koiso stays at his senior'(who he has a secret crush on)s great-grand mother's place. The large family fights against the end of the world crises triggered by Kenji answering a math problem.

Director Mamoru Hosoda, Ryunosuke Kamiki,Nanami Sakuraba, Mitsuki Tanimura, and Riisa Naka all appeared at the production presentation wearing yukatas and talked about the story and their characters.

Director Mamoru Hosoda: "This is an "Large Family Action Film" where a family in rural Japan takes on the internet world. "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" was a story about a girl in her adolescence, but this story shows the strengths of that families hold."

Ryunosuke Kamiki: "I hope to give the feeling that I have as being the same age range." "Kenji is a math-whiz so he is always calm and objective. I'd like to show the contrast between normal times and times under fire."

Nanami Sakuraba: "I was really nervous because it was my first time of voice acting. The younger role Ryunosuke really helped me a lot."

Mitsuki Tanimura: "I didn't know what to do when I first heard that I got a male role, but I would like to add a little spice to the story."

Riisa Naka : "It's nice to work with (Director Mamoru Hosoda) again.(played the heroine Makoto Konno in "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time") " My role is a fat 38 year old woman. I thought I could do a older woman's role, but I didn't know about the build of the character until I saw the picture...I'll work on it."

Hosoda also commented that "We took good time to build this up nicely" "We made it for the whole family to enjoy." "SUMMER WARS" is scheduled to hit the screens in summer 2009 from Warner Brothers.
