Event report of TV anime "Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings)"  @TAF2009!Event report of TV anime "Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings)" at The Tokyo International Anime Fair 2009 (TAF2009) !


"Sengoku Basara" is an animation based on the popular game by Capcom produced by I.G.. It will go on air from April on TBS/MBS/CBC and other stations and its collection of famous voice actors has been featured.

The story is basically the same taking place during the Sengoku Period, or Warring States Period, during which Japan was split into many minor states battling over power and land. The game features historical warlords and stories with a modern arrangements.

The participants at the event held at TAF2009 were, Kazuya Nakai (Date Masamune/Azure Dragon), Souichirou Hoshi (Sanada Yukimura/Scorpio), Toshiyuki Morikawa (Katakura Kojyurou), director Itsuro Kawasaki and Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi hosting a preview of the PV and holding a talkshow session.

<Story>
Set in the age of provincial wars.
There are lots of warlords all over Japan, and they are struggling for power again and again. The biggest force is Nobunaga Oda's army. Nobunaga has overwhelming force, oppresses ordinary people, and wreaks unprecedented havoc.
However one warlord in northern Japan gave his name and starts to dominate the whole country.
His name, Masamune Date. He aims for the head of Nobunaga and the unification of the country !

The talk focused on the making side of Date Masamune (Azure Dragon)'s war cry "Are you ready guys?", Kobayashi said that he wanted to emphasise more on the character's personality. Kawasaki revealed the toughness he faced of the numbers of characters and the details of the costumes.

The comments from the voice actors included "I had troubles with the English lines not being written in katakana on the script..." (Nakai).  "The lines came out more naturally with the lively shouting and screaming than other recordings done alone." (Hoshi).  "I didn't have any shouting/screaming lines, so I envy Oichi.. but I'm looking forward to the shouting lines of Noto."(Morikawa).

Messages from abingdon boys school and Dustz that will be doing the opening and closing themes were showed. The event folded with comments from the participants.
