A new action figure display unit "di:stage" was presented by MAX FACTORY at Akihabara on the 19th.
"di:stage" is a display unit produced by MAX FACTORY for "figma" and "Nendroid" action figures. The combination of the base unit and the flexible arm makes it possible to recreate many poses and scenes.
The 10cm square "Base unit" is big enough to hold 2 "figma" figures and adding "Flat joint" and "Wall joint", the base unit can be expanded or muild higher walls. "Layer unit" and "Swing joint" can make it into a shelf shape. In addition, "Grap joint" will hold any kind of figures broadening its usage.
The biggest feature will be the "Binder", that can be attached on all four sides of the base unit. This part can hold up to 1mm, so plastic board can be held to make it a clear case, picture card for backdrop. Other feature is the "Effect clip" to put a balloon for the characters, a real collaboration of prints and figure.
The presentation was held using figures not for sale yet, attracting attention from the luckily invited general users and bloggers.

"di:stage" suggests a new style of bond with figures. Masaaki Asai, the general producer of the figma series released these comments.
Masaaki Asai: "Displaying figures always took space. We started this project to break through that image and make a stand solely for figure display but we started to have fun . The user can express themselves freely by using the parts and paper. We hope to see the figures live inside the world made by "di:stage" with the users. That would be our ultimate goal.
The backdrop paper known as "Cover Skin" or "Paper Vignette" can be bought separately, included in new products, downloaded from the internet or be included as a magazine appendix. Of course users can make their own making it possible to expand imagination freely.
