Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 recording report! Christel Takigawa stars as herselfThe first recording session of the new summer anime series "Tokyo Magnitude 8.0" was held.

"Tokyo Magnitude 8.0" is an anime television series, which is slated to premiere on Fuji TV's noitaminA time slot from July as a follower of "Eden of the East".

As the title suggests, its themed on the topic of an earthquake. The story takes place after an earthquake measuring 8.0 and the richter scale (the great Kanto quake was 7.9), with its elaborate data and interviews, it shows the fears and the rescue and aid that takes place in those situations. The main focus is on Mirai, a girl that can't open up to her family, and her brother Yuuki, a boy "reading between the lines" and Mari, a mother of a 5 year old helping each other to get back home.

here are the comments from the main cast after the first session

・Satomi Hanamura as Mirai Onosawa

In "Tokyo Magnitude 8.0", many places that we know gets destroyed. A world we never dreamed about...the changes Mirai goes through facing and thinking about this changed Tokyo has made me realize a very important thing. I hope the viewers can reflect their thoughts on earthquakes, their family and themselves through this program.

・Yumiko Kobayashi as Yuuki Onosawa

There are many things that are forgotten in this age that are shown here and would like to have as many viewers as possible! Yuuki Onozawa is my role in this production and I could only think how to play the part right now!

・Yuko Kaida as Mari Kusakabe

Panic that may occur tomorrow, the family problems that we already may have, the connection with people...I don't know how much I can express it but I am very excited. With the cast and staff, I will do my best to make this a production that will stay in people's hearts!

Christel Takigawa, the popular anchor that appears on "FNN News Japan" will star in this anime as herself. She will be voice-act for the first time as the announcer reporting about the earthquake. Below are the comments after the recording:

(after the first recording)  It was close to the practices we do for preparing for these cases but the major difference was how to "express" the tentions. I can guess that I will try to keep myself calm as possible in those situations so expressing those emotions were difficult.

(how she became connected to the anime) I had an offer from the producer to make the program more real to this "Real Simulation Anime". I was flattered to hear that I would be fitting and it was also rewarding for myself.

(seeing herself animated) It has a my characteristics and I thinks it resembles me a lot. I wore this white shirt and pearl earrings to match my anime character.

(earthquake episodes) I have not experienced any major earthquakes myself. But, because I lived in Kobe before, I recall being worried about my friends not having any contacts after the Kobe quake.

(what to expect from "Tokyo Magnitude 8.0") I am looking forward to the reality of the research that has spanned for a year and its movie made by computer graphics.

(message to the viewers) We tend to watch out closely while the disasters are happening but begin to forget when it calms down. I hope this story can be a start to think about earth quakes and disasters. Also see the bonding of people in the story.
