Natsuki Kato becomes the NERV PR Ambassador! Eva Cell phone event @ Akiba

Natsuki Kato becomes the NERV PR Ambassador! EVA Cell phone event @ Akiba A special event commemorating the sale of "EVANGELION Cell Phone(SH-06A NERV)" by NTT DoCoMo was held at Yodobashi Akiba.

The event started from the announcement that "Natsuki Katoh named as NERV PR Ambassador" by Misato Katsuragi. Then the appointed anbassador Natsuki Kato appeared on stage. Kato is known for her OTAKU interests in anime, games and cosplay. Especially her interests in EVA was featured in the TV talk show "Ame Taaalk!"'s "EVA Celebrities" episode and was in a cosplay wearing a NERV uniform-ish style.

Kato asked the audience "Have you seen the theatrical edition?" and received a fairly good response but she herself haven't seen it yet, so the talk was what she expects on the theatrical edition.

Kato talked about how she got to know EVA. Her first encounter was from being a fan of Megumi Hayashibara, a voice actor for Rei Ayanami in the EVA TV series but couldn't understand the complex storyline. Few years later, she felt the love story that she missed when she saw it in her teens and got hooked to the deep story of EVANGELION.

She says she "feels empathy to Asuka as a woman" and talked about how Kato is attracted to Asuka's humanness of unbalanced emotions and strong persona that comes from her pride. The male characters were compared as "herbivore" Shinji to "carnivore" Gendou giving a young woman's point of view. When asked who to choose as a boyfriend, her answer was "Shinji".

As for the EVA-cell phone, customizing the font to be in the style shown in the program, EVA-like picture letters and "Umbilical cable disconnected!" letters shown when disconnected after charging. Kato also mentioned from a cosplayer's view that that these little things makes the users enjoy the world of EVANGELION more.

There were interesting topics such as the new character was chosen from audition was mentioned.
