Wonder Festival 2009 [Summer] was held in Makuhari Messe in Chiba on July 26th. Despite the summer heat that day, many dealers and fans gathered for the event. The event was filled with people selling and buying limited items and garage kits and photo shoots.
Wonder Festival (Won-Fes) is the all round exhibition and sales event for models that garage kit dealers gather from all around the country to see the mold makers themselves display and sell their models. The event is known to be without boundaries between professionals and amateurs, is one of the biggest hobby event with 40,000 participants.
Although it used to be held twice a year, in summer and winter, this has been the first since Wonder Festival 2008 [Summer] that had the escalator accident. The location has been moved from the familiar venue of Tokyo Big Site in Ariake, Tokyo to Makuhari Messe in Chiba, the booth arrangement was more spacious using 7 halls having "a safe operation" in mind. There was a Adult-only zone newly set up from this event. A strict zoning were placed where people had to show their IDs to go in to that area.
