Tokyo Game Show 2009 (TGS2009) opened at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on the 24th.
"Tokyo Game Show" is the world's largest game festival hosted by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA). The theme for 2009 was "Game,it's so energetic!". 180 companies and groups from 18 countries around the world has come to take part. Although, the absence of major companies like Electronic Arts, HUDSON, SNK PLAYMORE, MARVELOUS, TAKARA TOMY, FROM SOFTWARE gave it a bit of a lonely feel.
First 2 days (24th/ 25th) were business days and the second half (26th/ 27th) will be opened to the general public. Open between 10 A.M. to 5 P.M., admission fees are 1,200 yen (1,000 yen for pre-sales tickets/ children in elementary school or younger are free of charge). Expected to round up 180,000 guest in the 4 day span.

Announcement of the awards for this year's titles were out on the 1st day and they are as follows."Economy, trade and industry Minister Award" that has been added from 2008, (Shigeru Miyamoto of NINTENDO was awarded last year) went to CAPCOM's "Monster Hunter Development Team"
