Popular baseball anime "Major"'s 6th season and the unique soccer anime "Giant Killing" has begun from this April on NHK. The stage event featuring these 2 titles along with the new fall release "Bakuman" and "Psychic Detective Yakumo" was held at "Tokyo International Anime Fair 2010" (TAF2010).
First the 2 sports anime took the spotlight. Guests were Shotarou Morikubo who plays the main character Goro Shigeno in "Major", Daisuke Ono who portrays Luigi Yoshida in "Giant Killing" and Pakka-kun, the mascot of the team. Also, a video letter was sent from Tomokazu Seki, who plays the main character/manager Takeshi Tatsumi, showing his enthusiasm with a bit of jokes sprinkled on top.
The topic was "The tough things about sports anime !". Morikubo confessed the fierce booth conditions "With so many guys inside, the booth becomes somewhat like a clubhouse...Seriously, we become oxygen-deprived" Ono added that with so many people in a single scene, "It's hard to know "who's in play" ". Also, "With scenes of actual play, there are many lines that are not written in- like the calls between players and the heavy breathing" was commented by Morikubo and actually demonstrated the difference between the voices when pitching a fastball and a forkball.
After that Pakka-kun was targeted for play followed by the new fall anime. "Bakuman" features junior high schoolstudents aiming to be a cartoonist and "Psychic Detective Yakumo", a anime based on a mystery novel.
Guests were the cast that was revealed for the first time.
From "Bakuman", the main characters Moritaka Mashiro played by Atsushi Abe, and Satoshi Hino who plays the other main character Akito Takagi describing their enthusiasm and the excitement when they heard they got the part. Abe quoted that he "Shouted in joy in a shopping mall in Daikanyama" when he got the call.
And from "Psychic Detective Yakumo", it was announced that the main character Yakumo Saito will be voiced by Daisuke Ono, who wagon stage at that time. The crowd had "You again (lol)?" kind of roar. It was also revealed that the heroine Haruka Ozawa will be played by Ayumi Fujimura, Ono commented "Having done some titles together before, I think it will be easier to do".
With the 4 guests together, the theme was "What is usually seen at voice recording sites". Morikubo-"I worry where to sit at the beginning", Ono- "Always have festive red rice before a new show" was confessed, but they all agreed on "Get enough sleep" "Try not to set up the character too strong so you can handle the changes on the spot". Abe and Hino said they "Usually sit on the sides", while Ono's sad story was "I sit dead center but no female cast come beside me".
The event folded with comments to the fans from the cast and a surprising cartwheels performance by Pakka-kun (probably an improvisation) --> winding down the event with the guest stunned.
