Akiba-style Cross-dress Bar "NEWTYPE" Opens! Beautiful boy-girls awaits Cross-dress Bar "NEWTYPE" opened May 1st. The location is across from "Sambo beef bowl shop", 2nd floor of "DEMPA building" next to "La Hall" curry shop.

Male cross-dressing has been considered a genre "unordinary" until quite recently. Compared to the female cross-dressing culture that grew from cosplay to cafes and bars, male cross-dressing has been banned at cosplay events and exhibit/sales events forcing them to go underground or Akihabara's hokoten. Although there are fans growing among manga/games 2D areas as the likes of "Jyosou Shonen".

"NEWTYPE" is a dining bar that Akiba-style cross-dressing "Boy-girls" attend customers. The all-male staff looks as beautiful as real girls. Their shop style is a late night shop of "DearStage" that operates in the same building. The name is taken from the fictional "NEWTYPE" from the "GUNDAM" anime series."These boy-girls who are breaking through to make a new culture, are the real newtypes" says a staff.

Business hours are every Thursdays to Saturdays from 11PM to 5AM. Each days conveys different concepts.

Thursdays: Portable Gamers Cafe "Battle Space Colony!!" focusing on match ups on PSPs. There will be a free matching space and a group matching space ready for play. There is a rank-badge system based on the results as well as original drinks with names taken from the characters and machines from the games. Rentals of PSPs and lectures for beginners are scheduled.

Fridays and Saturdays:"NEWTYPE with DearStage", a collaboration of "Boy-girls" and DEMPA idols. Experience the unique feeling with both "Boy-girls" and DEMPA idols behind the counter.

There are 6 "Boy-girls" in the staff. According to the shop owner Chaduke, "I've picked boys cuter than me and this is what happened." Also he told us "Akiba culture is watched from all over the world. We would like you to experience the newtype,"Boy-girls" that these new generation is starting to make."
