The console versions of "Street Fighter IV"for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 were released.

"STREET FIGHTER IV" is the latest version of the competitive fighting game and considered to be the pioneer of its genre. As the name suggests, it is the fourth of the series and is the first release in 10 years. The coin-operated arcade game was released on July, 2008 and gained popularity with its visual effects and game-play balance.

Street Fighter IV features models and backgrounds rendered in high quality 3D, rather than its original 2D platform.3D visual effects were imposed on attacks like "Hadoken" and "Shoryuken" .The game has a very similar feel to Super Street Fighter II so it will be easier to associate with the older fans.

The arcade version of "Street Fighter IV" had 19 characters (12 original, 4 new characters, 3 boss characters), the console version has 6 additional popular characters ("Sakura" "Dan" "Cammy") from the past series.

"Ultra Combo" and "Saving Attack"(Focus Attacks) that were popular in the arcade edition will be available on console as well. They can be used to bring depth to the play. And by activating the online system, players can search for "Someone stronger than I".The data will be ranked online, but they can only be used through the same console.

There will be a limited special 60 minute animated DVD "The New Bond" that covers the story from "Street Fighter II" to "Street Fighter IV". It is produced by Studio 4℃ and a AKIHABARA GAMERS main store staff told us that "It is good enogh to sell on its own".

Being the latest release of the popular series, many shops in Akihabara were having big ad campaigns.The demo-play attracted not just the gamers but other pedestrians, Japanese and foreigners alike stopped to take a peek. One shop had a poster showing the changes through its series that runs over 20 years.

The comments surrounding the limited special 60 minute animated DVD "The New Bond" were "are limited to reserving customers only"(Sofmap amusement store) " were all sold out before noon"(AKIHABARA GAMERS main store). It seems that the shipping itself was very limited.

Some shops commented "Seeing the way it's selling, they might be sold out before the weekend", hinting for people who are considering purchase to hurry.
