Dragon Quest IX hits the stores, people's evaluation and Akiba's responce After a week has past since "Dragon Quest IX Hoshizora no Mamoribito" for Nintendo DS hit the stores, domestic sales has surpassed 3 million copies but, the feedback is broken up in half.

So, we went out to Akiba to ask what they think.

According to Kakaku.com Trend News update of July 17th, its access boosted the DS console itself but the rating was at 3.9 out from a 5 point scale and not showing the strengths seen from the sales.

We have noticed reading the comments that the review has clearly been split up between satisfied users and upset users. The user review was still sliding of noon, July 17th at 3.24.

On the other hand, fever was still on at Akiba with shops still holding "DQ IX" areas at the shops' most popular areas. Comments heard from the shops included "We still have 10 to 20 copies sold on a daily basis" "Although it can't beat the heat of the first day, it still sells constantly and we think this will be a long seller" showing its hope that the game will be one of the standard title of the Nintendo DS. Related item like dolls and Slime-shaped speakers are also something to check out.

Comments heard from shop staffs and customers at Akihabara were not as bad, "It gets better as the game progresses, the fun begins when you can change jobs to higher professions" "Its understandable that the expectations will be high when you have a game like DQ series but the game itself is quite well made". There were a comment from a heavy user saying "I first tried to go alone but it was too tough and quit (lol) now I have myself and a partner in the game". Negative comments were mainly targeted at the "Ganguro fairy" saying, "Her attitude irratates me" and "It kills the image of DQ".

As a wrap, it seems that general users' review tends to get more harsh because of the high expectations, but the game loving Akiba-ites will find their own way of having fun in their own way and style. Despite the release being pre-empted the strong sales/popularity is the strengths of the DQ series.

The lowest price at Kakaku.com at noon 17th was 4,725 yen and still ranked 1st at sales and attention ranking. Comments written in on Kuchikomi BBS is up to 450 comments.
