DreamCast becomes a PC! Blu-Ray read-in and altered Control pads
A homemade PC using a SEGA DreamCast Game console came out for display at Tsukumo PC Honten's 1st floor.
This DreamCast PC was made by the shop staff that made the homemade PC using SEGA Game console “SEGA SATURN” 's case. Equipped with a Blu-ray read-in and a HDMI output support, out specs the previous machine.
Its basic format is "Athlon X2 4850e" CPU by AMD, "MINIX-780G-SP128MB" by J&W motherboard, "PSD22G8002S (2GB*2)memory by PATRIOT, and NEC Optiarc's BC-5500A for the optical drive. Pico's 120W AC adapter PSU-120S SET is used for the main power.
Just like the previous machine, most of its functions from the original chassis are taken over. The optical drive had to be taken apart to fit in the drive part of the original machine. The controller port was changed into a USB port. The main power button and its LED, and the open/close button of the drive function the same.
Another machine bought after a staff had to be accidentally damaged a cable while installing the optical drive.
For cooling purposes, motherboard is installed upside down and HDD tilted. There is an insulator under the case to install the fan. They also needed space for cooling.
The control pad was altered as well. They installed USB hub and a converter substrate that enables the usage of the buttons and the analog padding of the original controller. It took 3 days to assemble and the production cost was 5000yen for the controller and 100,000yen for the machine.

When we asked what to expect, we were told that "A quad core CPU, Blu-Ray read-in will be the priority so the case we are still thinking about it..." But they did tell us that the possibility of using a new game console chassis will be quite low.
The whole idea of assemblimg this DreamCast PC started from watching a movie on NicoNico Douga.
