"Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition" Out and Sold Out!!

The latest version of the AMD's CPU, "Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition" ( A.K.A.Phenom II X4 940 BE) went out on the 10th.
to "Phenom II X4" Unveiled! Reservations at Akihabara starts!　"940 BE" (3.0GHz) around 30,000 yen

AMD "Phenom II X4 940 BE" is  a quad core CPU based on Production Process Rule 45nm that corresponds to Socket AM2+. First of the Phenom series to have the 45nm process system, the specs are :movement clock 3GHz, 1st Cache memory 64KB×4, 2nd 512KB×4, 3rd 6MB, and TDP at 125W.

Spec are basically the same as X4 9950 BE, the major differences are the lowering of the HyperTransport clock from 2.0GHz to 1.8GHz, the capacity of the 3rd Cache memory has gone up from 2MB to 6MB and the loading of the 3.0 latest edition of the energy efficient "Cool'n'Quiet".

The model that went out on sale is exclusive for Socket AM2+, DDR2 memory, it's biggest merit is that it can use the already out motherboards. Support status can be checked on each motherboard maker's Website and can be used by updating the BIOS. There are plans to release Phenom II X4 series for DDR2/DDR3 memory for AM2+ compatible Socket AM3.

The first day sales at Akihabara was very impressive. Although there weren't any lines before the shops' openings, but consistant sales had them sold out by the afternoon. Most of the shops had them sold out when we got there for the report. ( Tsukumo eX. was the only shop that we were able to see them on sale.) So for users considering of purchasing, act fast! The motherboards, on the other hand were not doing so well, the shop staff told us.
